Oh, Bitcoin’s hashrate is humming like a polka band at a bar mitzvah-1 zettahash per second (ZH/s)! But hold onto your yarmulkes, folks, because the network’s difficulty just did a 4.63% jig, landing at a whopping 142.34 trillion! Mazel tov, miners! 🎉
Those Bitcoin blocks? They’re 4.63% tougher to mine now, thanks to this latest difficulty shenanigan. As of 2:35 p.m. Eastern time Friday, the hashrate is cruising at 1,016.17 exahash per second (EH/s), breaking the 1 zettahash (ZH/s) barrier like it’s a piñata at a party. At block height 915,264, it even hit 1.13 ZH/s-briefly, of course, because who can keep up with that tempo? Average block time? A cool 9 minutes and 1 second. Not too shabby, eh? 🕺

Blocks are still popping up faster than jokes at a Brooks movie, but don’t get too comfy-this new difficulty setting might slow the party down. Especially since miners are already pinching pennies this September. Hashprice? Down 7.91% from last month. On Aug. 19, it was $55.78 per PH/s, but now it’s a humble $51.37. Better start selling those NFT portraits of me to make up the difference! 🎨💰
