Well, folks, Bitcoin took a nosedive early Tuesday, slipping down to $111,600-its lowest whisper in over a fortnight. Like a stubborn mule, it just wouldn’t budge higher, sulking in its corner of the market.
Meanwhile, the big-shot altcoins mostly sat around licking their wounds after Monday’s fiasco, except for one wild card: AVAX. That little firecracker shot up by more than 12%, like it had guzzled three cups of strong coffee and decided it was time to dance.
Bitcoin’s Moody Comeback
Last week, bitcoin was playing nice, especially on Thursday, when the Fed finally eased interest rates by a measly 25 bps. Bitcoin, like a cat getting a fresh saucer of cream, perked up and nudged $118,000, its monthly high. But like all fleeting joys, it started slipping by Friday, losing steam down to $115,200 and then meandering sideways like a confused tourist.
Monday, however, was a whole different story. Bitcoin dipped to $114,400 before the grumpy bears trampled the market down to about $112,000, slaughtering about $1.7 billion in liquidations. Oops.
Sure, it bounced back a bit, only to stumble again to that two-week low early Tuesday. Now it’s cautiously inching toward $113,000, probably nursing a hangover from all the drama.
Its market cap stubbornly lingers around $2.25 trillion, and it still bossily claims 56.4% dominance over the alt sidekick gang.
AVAX: The Show Stealer
While most big-name alts looked like they lost their car keys yesterday-ETH, XRP, TRX, DOGE, ADA, LINK, and SUI are now slowly climbing out of the ditch-BNB, SOL, and HYPE are still limping along, counting their bruises.
Avalanche’s AVAX, however, is doing the market equivalent of a victory lap, zooming up over 12% and flirting with $35 like it owns the place. CRO, MNT, and NEAR are tagging along nicely for the ride too.
The overall crypto market cap just pulled itself up by a cool $40 billion and now struts around at a hefty $4 trillion. Not bad for a market that loves to keep us on our toes.
