So, apparently, reality is now being outsourced to a company called Kalshi. Which, frankly, sounds like a very specific type of shoe. But no, it’s a “prediction market.” And CNN, in a move that can only be described as “well, why not?”, has decided to let them tell everyone what’s going to happen. Because apparently, journalism isn’t predictive enough anymore. 🤷‍♀️

CNN Adopts Kalshi’s Real-Time Probabilities (Whatever Those Are)

CNN will be sprinkling these “market-based odds” into their reporting. Chief Data Analyst Harry Enten is tasked with explaining it all, presumably while resisting the urge to warn viewers that all probabilities are, ultimately, just extremely polite guesses. 🧐 The deal is “exclusive,” which gives Polymarket a lovely feeling of being left out. One imagines they’re having a very quiet, contemplative tea break.

It appears Kalshi is somehow remarkably good at this. They even predicted a mayoral race quickly, which is impressive. It’s still a prediction, of course – doesn’t mean it was right, just… fast. Like a really speedy wrong answer.

Funding Momentum and Expansion into New Tools (and Possibly Other Dimensions)

The announcement conveniently coincided with a $1 billion fundraising round, boosting Kalshi’s valuation to a frankly terrifying $11 billion. That’s a lot of money to bet on the future. One hopes they have a good accountant. And a reliable time machine, just in case.

They’re also tinkering with blockchain technology, adding support for Sei and planning to invade Solana. The future, it seems, will be built on increasingly complicated acronyms and the faint smell of electricity. They’ve got 127,000 markets already, and $580 million traded. What are people betting on? Which way the toast will land? The mysteries of the universe are vast.

Apparently, in 2026, you’ll be able to predict things directly from your Trust Wallet. Which, honestly, sounds like a recipe for disaster. But who are we to judge? 🤷‍♂️

Legal battles are being won, too. A Nevada court lifted an injunction. Progress! Soon, Kalshi will be able to boldly predict things in even more places. With CNN now on board, they’re apparently aiming to give viewers a “clearer sense of how expectations shift.” Which is a rather elegant way of saying “we’re going to keep showing you numbers.”
