A technology company is reaching a settlement with customers whose personal information was compromised in a recent security breach. This includes data related to passwords, which was encrypted.
LastPass US has reached a preliminary agreement to settle a class action lawsuit related to a data security incident that happened between August and November 2022. This affects users of the LastPass password manager, as confirmed by court documents.
LastPass has reached a settlement offering up to $10,000 per person to cover significant financial losses caused by the recent security incident. Users may also receive smaller payments for less substantial losses or as required by law, depending on their individual situation and supporting documentation.
The settlement agreement says the fund will reimburse people up to $10,000 for losses directly caused by the incident, as long as they can provide documentation. The actual payment amount could change based on how many valid claims are submitted.
A recent lawsuit claims LastPass didn’t have strong enough security to safeguard user information. As a result of this failure, sensitive data like names, addresses, email addresses, and saved vault details were exposed in a data breach.
Besides a payment, the agreement offers services like credit and identity theft protection to those affected. If you’re eligible, you need to submit your claim by July 2, 2026. The court will give final approval on July 14, 2026.
