Ripple Burns 32 Million RLUSD on Ethereum: Biggest Burn of the Month!

Ripple recently made its largest monthly burn of RLUSD stablecoin, following a week of reduced burning activity.

Ripple recently destroyed (or ‘burned’) large amounts of RLUSD in two separate transactions, bringing the total for May to four. This significant activity, which took place on the Ethereum blockchain, is being closely watched by those following the cryptocurrency market.

RLUSD supply shrinks by 32 million

With more people using RLUSD, Ripple’s stablecoin, the company wants to manage how much is available on both the Ethereum and XRP networks.

It’s common for the Ripple community to see large token movements, and recently, Ripple transferred 32,075,051 RLUSD tokens to unrecoverable addresses, effectively removing them from circulation.

People in the crypto world are already used to stablecoins being burned, but there’s growing interest in understanding *why* it happens and *how often*.

This change is designed to gradually reduce the number of stablecoins available, mainly to manage its value by controlling how many are in circulation and making it more scarce.

Ripple slows on RLUSD burns

Despite earlier activity, Ripple seems to have reduced its RLUSD burning this month. So far in May, only four burn transactions have taken place, totaling around 62 million RLUSD – a noticeable decrease compared to previous months.

More and more large companies are starting to use RLUSD, particularly those wanting to use stablecoins to simplify international payments.

Ripple continues to actively work on expanding the use of its digital currency, RLUSD, worldwide through new developments and collaborations.
