Ripple Mints 39.4M RLUSD in 24 Hours: Stablecoin Frenzy Explodes!

Over the past day, activity around the Ripple USD stablecoin (RLUSD) has increased significantly, with 39.4 million new tokens created.

The Ripple USD tracker shows that $33.4 million in RLUSD tokens were created on May 18th, and another $6 million were created on May 19th. This brings the total amount of RLUSD minted in the last 24 hours to $39.4 million.

I noticed something interesting on the Ripple stablecoin tracker on X – they just minted $31 million in RLUSD. It happened in two separate transactions: $16 million first, and then another $15 million on the XRP Ledger. It’s good to see more stablecoins being created!

Over the last 24 hours, no RLUSD was burned. Recent minting activity has increased the RLUSD supply on the XRP Ledger to $442,192,034. According to the Ripple USD tracker, the total amount of RLUSD currently in circulation is $1,611,422,372.

On May 15th, a total of 32,075,051 RLUSD was destroyed in a series of transactions on the Ethereum blockchain, with the RLUSD Treasury carrying out the burns.

Important notice passed to XRP Ledger validators

J.A. Akinyele, Ripple’s Head of Engineering, has informed XRP Ledger validators about an upcoming update. This notice relates to a fix being implemented in XRPL version 3.1.3, which will go live in approximately eight days.

The XRPL version 3.1.3 was released on May 8 and included one default-yes fix amendment.

Akinyele recently announced on Twitter that only 44% of the XRP Ledger network has been updated to version 3.1.3. Network operators are encouraged to upgrade quickly to reach full compatibility, as less than half the network is currently running the latest version.

This update is critical because a software fix in XRP Ledger version 3.1.3 will be automatically enabled in about 8 days. If you don’t update to the newest version, your node won’t be able to connect to the network, effectively blocking it.
