AI or Die, Says Mr. Wonderful 🤖

As I sit here, sipping my tea and pondering the mysteries of the universe, I am reminded of the wise words of the inimitable Kevin O’Leary, aka Mr. Wonderful. It appears that this shrewd investor has a rather… let’s say, “passionate” stance on the importance of artificial intelligence in business.

In a recent interview with CryptoMoon, O’Leary declared that any company that neglects AI is, quite frankly, not worth his time or money. And who can blame him, really? The cost of new customer acquisition has skyrocketed in recent years, and AI has proven to be a rather… shall we say, “miraculous” solution to this problem.

“The cost of content creation has more than quadrupled, my dear fellow,” O’Leary exclaimed. “In some cases, it’s a whopping 10 times more expensive than it was just a few years ago! But fear not, dear entrepreneurs, for AI has come to the rescue, reducing content production costs by a staggering 60%.”

But, of course, O’Leary’s enthusiasm for AI goes far beyond mere cost savings. Oh no, my friends. This is a matter of national security, a veritable “AI cold war” between the US and China. And, as O’Leary so astutely pointed out, “We are in a technological war with China — we really are.”

“Before I meet the CEO, I want to know who is running the show in terms of generating and maintaining customer acquisition, customer growth, reducing customer acquisition cost, and increasing ROI on ad spend.”

Ah, but I digress. O’Leary’s investment strategy is quite simple, really: he looks for companies that are leveraging AI to reduce costs and increase efficiency. And, as he so cleverly put it, “It’s the old analogy from the gold days hundreds of years ago. The guys who made the most money with the least risk sold the jeans and the picks and shovels.”

A Bitzero of a Different Kind

O’Leary’s investment in Bitzero, a Bitcoin mining and high-performance computing company, is a prime example of this strategy in action. By owning the infrastructure behind Bitcoin and AI, O’Leary is betting on a more sustainable and profitable business model than pursuing the businesses that this infrastructure serves.

The AI Chip Wars

But, I must say, the real pièce de résistance of O’Leary’s argument is his comparison of AI chips to the queen bee in a bee colony. “Developers and programmers gather around new AI chips and produce the ‘honey’ or computer code,” he said, with a straight face, I might add.

And, as he so astutely pointed out, by limiting the use of AI chips built by US companies through sanctions and punitive trade policies, it allows competing nations to have their chipsets and architectures proliferate, and steer AI development. Ah, the plot thickens, my friends! 🤖
