From November 2019 to December 2025, Potter was the Chief Financial Officer of Corsair Gaming. During his time there, he guided the company through its initial public offering in September 2020 and managed several financial deals, as stated in the official filing.

He held these positions at companies like Canadian Solar, Lattice Semiconductor, NeoPhotonics, and STATS ChipPAC, demonstrating his experience in both the semiconductor and renewable energy industries.

According to the document, Liu resigned for personal reasons and left on good terms with the company, with no disagreements about its operations, policies, or practices.

After the changeover, Liu will remain available as a key advisor. This overlap means Bitdeer will have approximately five weeks with both financial leaders on board before the transition is complete.

How the appointment fits Bitdeer’s strategic mix

Over the past year, Bitdeer has been shifting its focus from Bitcoin mining to providing infrastructure for artificial intelligence. In April 2026, they mined 783 Bitcoin themselves, which was a significant increase of 372% compared to the previous year. They also boosted their mining power to over 65 EH/s.

The company’s AI cloud revenue increased by approximately 60% each month, reaching around $69 million. They are also continuing advanced talks to secure a colocation agreement for a site in Norway called Tydal.

Bitdeer CEO Linghui Kong announced in the company’s latest update that they continued to operate efficiently with their combined AI and Bitcoin mining system throughout April.

Mr. Potter’s experience is a strong fit for all aspects of this venture. He has a background in hardware sourcing and supply chain management, like Corsair Gaming. He also understands the financial side of renewable energy, similar to Canadian Solar, and has worked with the chip design process that closely aligns with Bitdeer’s SEALMINER system.

What the market reaction signals

Bitdeer’s stock price dropped slightly, around 3%, when markets opened, but it’s still trading near its highest point in six months. This small decrease indicates investors likely see the change in Chief Financial Officer as a normal shift in leadership, not a sign of bigger problems.

The company has been consistently expanding its data centers in the US, Norway, Bhutan, and Ethiopia, aiming for a total capacity of 3 gigawatts. According to its first-quarter report, they are now considering repurposing some of these facilities to support artificial intelligence cloud computing and data storage services.

From 2018 to March 2026, Potter led the audit committee for Cordelio Power, a renewable energy company supported by CPP Investments.
