As reported by the ever-watchful Wu Blockchain, come Sept. 11 at 12:00 p.m. UTC, a whopping 48 perpetual swap contracts are about to be shown the door. BitMEX, in their official statement, put it this way: these contracts are getting the boot due to “insufficient trading interest.” I reckon that’s a polite way of saying they weren’t exactly setting the world on fire. 🌲🔥

BitMEX kindly laid out the timeline for this grand exodus. The contracts will continue to trade normally until 4:00 a.m. UTC on Sept. 11, 2025. Then, at the stroke of noon, the contracts will expire, trading will halt, and all open orders will be canceled. Open positions will be closed using the settlement prices. It’s a bit like a digital version of the Wild West, where everything comes to a sudden stop at high noon. 🤠🔫
XRP, ADA New Futures to Be Listed
But fear not, dear readers, for every ending brings a new beginning. In another twist, BitMEX announced that it will be listing new quarterly futures on Sept. 9, 2025, at 4:00 a.m. UTC. This time, the big boys like Cardano (ADA), Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin (BTC), and XRP are stepping up to the plate. The perpetual contracts for Cardano/Bitcoin, Ethereum/Bitcoin, Ethereum/USD, and XRP/Bitcoin will be ready for action starting Sept. 9, 2025.
