Cardano Founder Blasts Ripple for CLARITY Act: ‘They’re Playing Dirty’

<a href="https://bbg-news.com/ada-usd/">Cardano</a> Founder Blasts <a href="https://tech-oracle.com/xrp-usd/">Ripple</a> For Playing Dirty With New CLARITY Act, Here’s What He Said

Charles Hoskinson, the creator of Cardano, recently made strong accusations against Ripple and its CEO, Brad Garlinghouse. He claims Ripple deliberately designed the CLARITY Act to get rid of competitors and protect its own business.

In my latest weekly YouTube update, I shared my concerns about a new bill and how it could significantly impact competition within the crypto industry. I believe there’s a more fundamental issue at play than what’s being widely discussed.

Hoskinson Accuses Ripple Of Playing Dirty

Charles Hoskinson believes the current version of the CLARITY Act was heavily influenced by Ripple. He argues the bill is designed so that most cryptocurrencies would automatically be considered securities, requiring projects to prove otherwise. He warns this process could be unfairly used against them by the SEC, while Ripple itself remains protected. Essentially, he feels the bill harms the broader crypto industry while benefiting a specific company.

According to Hoskinson, if the CLARITY Act becomes law, developers and startups will have to prove their projects *aren’t* securities, immediately putting them on the defensive.

As a crypto investor, I’m really concerned about the potential impact of the CLARITY Act. I’ve been reading that even developers who just *contribute* to open-source projects could get into legal trouble, even if they didn’t intend for their code to be used for anything illegal. The situation with Tornado Cash, where developers faced issues because of how the code was used, is a scary example of what could become normal if this act passes as it’s currently written. It feels like it could stifle innovation and really hurt the open-source community.

He also warned that removing current protections for DeFi developers would discourage innovation and worry developers throughout the crypto space.

Cardano Founder Says XRP Community Is Incapable Of Critical Thinking

Hoskinson also criticized the XRP community, claiming Ripple has consistently used marketing and propaganda to influence them. He added that prolonged exposure to social media, cable news, and sensationalized journalism has hindered some XRP community members’ ability to think for themselves.

Hoskinson has been developing this viewpoint for months, and his latest comments fit into a larger trend of criticism aimed at Ripple and the CLARITY Act.

In early March, he pointed out that the CLARITY Act seems to categorize almost everything as a security, meaning very few projects would avoid that label. He believes XRP might be one of the assets treated more favorably under this proposed framework.

He’s consistently criticized Brad Garlinghouse, particularly questioning why the Ripple CEO supports the bill despite believing it has problems. He brought this up during a livestream in January 2026.

The likelihood of the CLARITY Act becoming law in 2026, as predicted by Polymarket, has dropped to 51%. This is a significant decrease from over 78% in early March. The decline follows Coinbase’s resistance to finding a middle ground on stablecoin yields and the recent departure of David Sacks, a key figure in crypto policy.
