In a spectacle as tiresome as a second-rate society ball, Charles Hoskinson, the self-appointed doyen of Cardano, has deigned to castigate Hugo Philion, the upstart founder of Flare, for what he describes as a vulgar attempt to bask in the reflected glory of his own, far more illustrious, creation. Philion, with all the subtlety of a nouveau riche arriviste, took to the digital parlour of X (formerly Twitter) to proclaim that Flare has outstripped Cardano in the trifling matters of DeFi metrics, despite Cardano’s considerable head start.
Philion, with a boldness that borders on the absurd, declared that Cardano has been “trying and failing miserably” to emulate Flare’s strategy, particularly in the realm of Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs). One can almost hear the clinking of teacups as he pronounced Cardano’s efforts as woefully inadequate.
Saylor Just Said the Unthinkable
“Cardano’s DeFi statistics are as unimpressive as a debutante’s conversation,” Philion quipped, adding that Flare is poised to dominate by creating a unified DeFi layer for bridged assets, a feat he claims Cardano could never hope to achieve.

Hoskinson, never one to shy away from a fracas, swiftly dismissed Philion’s remarks as the desperate cries of a man clutching at the fraying edges of relevance. “Attacking Cardano for attention is as passé as last season’s fashions,” Hoskinson retorted with a wave of his digital fan. “Perhaps you should consider TikTok reaction videos? They seem all the rage with the younger set.”
Philion, undeterred by this withering put-down, responded hours later, insisting that his initial post was merely an objective analysis based on data from DeFi Llama. He then took another swipe at Cardano’s glacial development pace, offering Hoskinson a satirical glimpse into Flare’s future plans.
“It was hardly an attack-merely a recitation of facts, though I detect a note of desperation in your response,” Philion mocked. “Might I offer you an advance copy of our 2027 strategy? Perhaps it will inspire you to finally move beyond your interminable planning phase.”
