Hold on, it gets better. Lighter is not just speedier than a caffeinated squirrel on a treadmill, it’s leaving the Base Chain in the dust. Lighter is processing around 4,000 transactions per second, while Base is… well, doing its best with 100 to 200 transactions per second. Cute, right?

But don’t worry, Lighter isn’t like Solana in all the bad ways-just the “whoops, we broke the internet” ways. Since launching on October 1, Lighter has suffered several outages. So, if you’re looking for the perfect “always-on” blockchain experience, maybe pack a snack and try again later.

On October 28, the team was forced to compensate nearly 3,900 wallets to the tune of $774,872 in USDC due to one of the bigger disruptions. Oops, they did it again.

Are L2s Good for Ethereum? Well… Maybe?

“Yes, more transactions. But where’s the value accrual? L2s capture fees, not ETH. This question remains open.”

So while Ethereum layer 2s are definitely boosting scalability (who knew?), some folks are starting to wonder if it’s chipping away at Ethereum’s dominance as a layer 1. I mean, sure, L2s are doing wonders for the overall ecosystem, but they’re kind of like the popular kid who steals all the attention at the school dance.
