KuCoin is running its second annual “Anti-Phishing Month” to help keep users safe online. Building on last year’s successful start, the campaign focuses on educating users about phishing scams while also improving KuCoin’s security systems and how it manages risks.
This new feature is being released as more and more cryptocurrency users are being targeted by phishing scams. KuCoin reports that over 90% of scams on their platform happen through text messages (SMS) and emails. These attacks can cause users to lose money and trust in the platform, so KuCoin is focusing more on preventing them from happening in the first place.
This campaign coincides with important cybersecurity events in May, like World Information Security Day and World Password Day, as well as efforts by the International Telecommunication Union. KuCoin is taking advantage of this time to help users understand online security better and adopt safer account habits worldwide.
KuCoin offers comprehensive security as a service, using a system with multiple layers of defense. This includes tools to identify threats, ways to verify user identities, and resources to help users stay safe online.
KuCoin’s system protects users by spotting and stopping potentially harmful login attempts and unauthorized money withdrawals. On average, it blocks over 5,000 risky access attempts daily.
We’ve built security into important actions like logging in, making withdrawals, and connecting apps. This includes things like requiring a second form of verification and sending you immediate alerts if we detect anything risky, helping you stay protected before you complete sensitive tasks.
KuCoin also keeps its users informed about online safety through its website and app. They offer resources like examples of phishing attempts, general tips for staying safe online, and a tool called “Security Score” that helps users strengthen their account security over time.
According to Edwin Wong, Head of Risk Management at KuCoin, simply having strong technology isn’t enough to protect against today’s online threats. Real security comes from combining robust platform features with users who are aware and practice safe online habits. KuCoin’s Anti-Phishing Month is designed to help users make security a regular part of their routine, so they can understand, participate in, and actively practice safe behaviors, building stronger, lasting trust between the platform and its community.
Starting in May 2026, KuCoin is launching a new program where you can learn about staying safe online and earn rewards. You’ll study how to avoid phishing scams, take a quick quiz to test your knowledge, and add extra security features to your account, like Anti-Phishing Codes. If you finish the program, you’ll be eligible to receive rewards.
