A Virginia radiology company suffered a security breach, potentially exposing the personal information of over 266,000 people.

Radiology Associates of Richmond (RAR) reported a data breach to several government agencies last week.

The firm discovered the incident in April, but the actual hack occurred back in July 2025.

RAR hasn’t fully determined what data was affected by the breach, but a report filed with the Texas Attorney General suggests that compromised information may include government IDs, financial details like account and credit card numbers, and medical and health insurance information.

While many companies experiencing data breaches now offer identity theft protection, Radiology Associates of Richmond has chosen not to provide these services to people affected by their recent cybersecurity incident.

The company stated in a letter to those affected that they have no evidence that this incident led to fraud or identity theft. However, they are advising people to consider placing fraud alerts or security freezes on their credit reports as a precaution.

This isn’t the first time RAR has had a security problem. In 2024, a hacker broke into their system and accessed information belonging to around 1.42 million people, leading to a $5 million lawsuit.
