The White House, in a stunning move of bureaucratic audacity, has unveiled a national AI policy framework with seven legislative pillars. Why? To stop states from regulating AI, of course! Because nothing says “national unity” like replacing 50 state laws with one federal standard-except maybe replacing humans with machines, which crypto firms are doing too.
Just one day after Crypto.com axed 12% of its staff (“enterprise-wide AI integration,” they said, while we all scream into the void), the White House dropped this framework like it’s the last slice of pizza at a family reunion.
A Federal Standard Over 50 State Rules
Four states-Colorado, California, Utah, and Texas-have already tried to regulate AI. They dared to set rules about data collection, transparency, and how to use AI without sounding like a Roomba with a vendetta. The White House calls this effort a “patchwork,” which is just a fancy word for “people trying to govern things.”
Michael Kratsios, the White House’s tech wizard, declared, “We need one federal AI policy, not a 50-state patchwork.” Because nothing unites America faster than replacing state laws with a single policy written by people who’ve never owned a Roomba.
“This framework gets us there,” he said, as if “there” is a place where robots pay your taxes and you don’t.
The framework also claims states shouldn’t regulate AI development because it’s “inherently interstate” and has “national security implications.” Sure, Mike. That explains why my toaster’s AI keeps trying to roast my cat.
But hey, states can still regulate zoning for AI infrastructure. Nothing says “progress” like letting cities decide where data centers go while robots take over your job.
Today, the @WhiteHouse released a commonsense National AI Policy Framework that ensures every American benefits from AI.
As @POTUS has said – we need one federal AI policy, not a 50-state patchwork. This gets us there.
Eager to work with Congress on this important legislation.

The framework wisely avoids creating a new federal agency. Instead, it throws oversight to existing regulators and “industry-led standards.” Because who better to regulate AI than the same industry that once sold us “AI-powered pet rocks”?
What the 7 Pillars Cover
Child safety? Oh yes, because nothing says “protect our kids” like forcing them to wear digital seatbelts on AI platforms. The framework wants age-assurance tools, parental controls, and features to stop AI from turning into a digital pedophile. It’s like asking a toaster to babysit.
On energy, the framework says residential electricity customers shouldn’t pay for AI data centers. But it also wants faster permits for on-site power generation. Because nothing says “ratepayer protection” like letting companies build power plants overnight while your electric bill skyrockets.
One X user noted that ratepayer protection “isn’t talked about enough.” Of course it isn’t! Why would anyone trust a data center that promises not to bankrupt them?
Ratepayer protection isn’t talked about enough. Many people still believe these data centers will end up costing ratepayers with increased electric bills.

The administration also claims AI training on copyrighted material doesn’t violate laws. Because, obviously, training an AI on your entire Netflix catalog is just “fair use” now. They’ll let courts sort it out-because nothing says “confidence” like deferring to judges who probably use AI to write their rulings.
Free speech provisions? Oh, they’re only against government censorship. So AI platforms can delete your posts for being “offensive,” but the government can’t force them to do it. It’s like giving you a knife but saying you can’t stab anyone unless it’s the government doing the stabbing.
Crypto and Tech Firms Already Reshaping Workforces Around AI
The framework suggests expanding AI training programs. Good luck finding a job when Crypto.com just fired 180 people because, as CEO Kris Marszalek said, “Why pay humans when you can outsource to a toaster with a PhD?”
We are joining the list of companies integrating enterprise-wide AI. Companies that do not make this pivot immediately will fail. Companies that move slowly will be left behind. Companies that move immediately and pair the best AI tools with top-performers will achieve a level of…

Block, led by Jack Dorsey, cut 4,000 jobs. Dorsey explained, “A smaller team using AI tools can do more.” Because nothing says “efficiency” like replacing humans with algorithms that can’t make coffee.
Gemini, Algorand, and Messari are all following suit. By 2027, the only humans left will be those selling AI-powered resumes to robots.
Daniel Castro of the Center for Data Innovation praised the framework as “pro-innovation.” Because nothing says “innovation” like ignoring state laws and letting corporations write their own rules.
The @WhiteHouse has released its National Policy Framework for AI-offering Congress a clear, pro-innovation blueprint that targets real harms, supports adoption, & avoids a patchwork of state laws.

But child safety advocates are worried. Daniel Cochrane of the Heritage Foundation warned, “Broad preemption could endanger our kids.” Because nothing endangers kids more than letting federal regulators replace state protections with vague promises of “age-assurance tools.”
Whether Congress acts on this depends on priorities. The CLARITY Act for stablecoins and other crypto bills are already hogging the spotlight. Kratsios wants legislation signed “this year,” but with AI writing its own laws, maybe it’ll just pass itself.
